주홍콩대한민국총영사관(총영사 유형철)과 홍콩한인상공회(회장 김준회)가 공동 주관한 2025 K-CSR 활동(Korean Corporate Social Responsibility)이 7월 5일 토요일 오전 11시부터 오후 2시까지 구룡 산포콩 소재 LOVE 21 Centre에서 성황리에 진행되었다. 주홍콩대한민국총영사관, 홍콩한인회, 홍콩한인상공회, KOTRA 홍콩, 홍콩한인여성회, 코윈홍콩, 민주평통 및 지상사 대표들과 조영득 태권도 관장 및 사범들, Creatio Studio 그리고 LOVE 21 CENTRE 관계자 등 120여 명이 참석하였다.

홍콩한인상공회는 2012년부터 주홍콩 대한민국 총영사관과 함께 홍콩에 거주하는 한국인들의 이미지 제고는 물론 한-홍 간의 유대강화와 소통의 장을 넓히고 동시에 한국의 국가브랜드 향상의 일환으로 주홍콩 한국기업의 사회적 책임 활동을 전개해 왔다. 

홍콩한인상공회 김준회 회장은 인사말에서 “LOVE 21 재단과 홍콩한국기업의 사회적 책임(K-CSR) 행사를 진행하게 되어 큰 영광이다. 특히 올해는 ‘LOVE 21 재단’과 처음으로 함께하게 되어 더욱 의미가 깊다. 진행될 태권도 시범과 강습, 게스트 스피커의 강연, 그리고 경험이 풍부한 셰프의 한국 요리 교실까지 정말 기대가 된다. 마음을 열고 즐기면서, 우리가 모두 변화를 만들 수 있고 함께 더 나은 지역사회를 만들어 갈 수 있기를 바란다”라고 전했다.

LOVE 21 Centre의 운영본부장을 맡고 있는 Maggie Chui는 환영사에서 한국단체의 방문에 대해 감사를 표하며 기관소개를 했다. 8년 동안 홍콩의 다운 증후군 및 자폐증 커뮤니티를 위해 스포츠, 영양 및 종합 지원 프로그램을 통해 힘을 실어주는 자선 단체이며. 영양 지원과 커뮤니티 부모들을 위한 상담 지원 서비스도 확대 중이다. 현재 550가족 이상을 돌보고 있고 회원과 가족들을 포함해 약 2,000여 명에게 서비스를 전하고 있다고 밝혔다. 

“대부분의 다운증후군 자녀를 둔 부모는 24시간 내내 아이를 돌봐야 해서 일을 할 수가 없다. 그래서 경제적 어려움을 겪게 된다. 하지만 여기 온 부모들은 경제적 지원보다 사랑과 지지와 돌봄을 더 요청한다. 단순한 재정 지원 접근이 아닌 누가 이들을 양성하고 교육하며 능력을 믿어주고 키워줄지를 고민한다.”라고 전했다.

이어 참가한 봉사자들에게 SDN 멤버를 만나 하이파이브나 허그로 인사하는 방법과 그들이 많은 것을 궁금해할지도 모른다고 미리 귀뜸을 해주었다. “SDN 회원들은 18세가 되면 학교 지원이 끊기면서 능력이 급격히 떨어지는 경우가 많다. 우리 센터는 모든 연령대를 지원하는데, 현재 회원의 50%는 13~17세 사이며 정부나 다른 기관들로부터 지원을 받지 못하는 이 연령대를 이 센터가 돕고 있다. 때로는 금전적 지원뿐 아니라, 이렇게 그들과 교류해 주는 이들의 관심이 정말 소중하다”라고 강조했다. 

Maggie Chui 본부장은 SDN 멤버들에게 주홍콩대한민국 유형철 총영사를 “叔叔”라고 소개하며 인사말을 청했다. 

유형철 총영사는 “여러분을 만나게 되어 매우 기쁘며, 이번 K-CSR 행사에 함께 참여할 수 있어 영광이다. 특히 이 뜻깊은 자리에 한국 커뮤니티와 한국 기업들을 초대해 준 LOVE 21 관계자분들께 진심으로 감사드린다. 오늘의 행사가 한국 커뮤니티와 홍콩 커뮤니티 간의 유대를 강화하고, 더 깊은 우정, 협력, 상호 이해를 위한 의미 있는 계기가 되길 바란다. 이 중요한 행사를 준비해 주신 한국 기업들과 홍콩한인상공회와 한인단체들에게 감사의 인사를 전한다. LOVE 21 센터의 번영을 진심으로 기원한다.”라고 전했다. 

2층 행사장에서는 조영득 태권도 관장과 사범 3인이 품새, 덤블링 시범, 격파 시범, 아기 상어 품새 춤 공연을 펼쳤다. 조영덕 관장은 한국식 태권도 인사 예절을 소개하고 태권도 기마 자세, 주먹, 앞차기를 소개하고 멤버들에게 ‘주먹펀치’와 ‘앞차기 체험’, ‘격파 체험’, 그리고 절대 포기 없이 자신 있게 무엇이든지 열심히 할 것을 당부하였다.

센터 부근 Midas Plaza 6층에서는 홍콩한인상공회 여성임원들이 O’rm owner 최준우 셰프와 김동희 파트너를 도와 센터 멤버와 부모들에게 한국식 김밥과 떡볶이 만드는 방법을 소개하고 함께 진행하였다. 멤버 중 탱탱(婷婷)의 엄마는 딸이 김밥에 올리고 싶은 재료가 너무 많아 김을 말 수가 없었다고 웃음을 터뜨렸다. 

옹기종기 모여 앉아 담소를 나누던 부모들은 너무 신나는 하루라고 입을 모았고 한국식 화장법과 김치도 배우고 싶다고 하며 앞으로의 더 많은 인연을 기대했다. 노란 조끼와 주황 조끼를 입은 주홍콩총영사관 관계자들과 홍콩한인상공회 회원들 그리고 홍콩한인단체 봉사자들의 오늘 하루는 홍콩 생활에서 잊지 못할 추억으로 자리할 것이며 다음 행사에도 꼭 참여할 것이라는 소중한 마음을 간직한 채 행사를 성료했다.

2025 K-CSR at LOVE 21 CENTRE, Jointly Hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Korean Chamber of Commerce 

The 2025 K-CSR (Korean Corporate Social Responsibility) event, jointly organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong (Consul General Yoo Hyung Cheol) and the Hong Kong Korean Chamber of Commerce (Chairman Kim Jun Hoe), was successfully held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 5 at the LOVE 21 Centre in Sam Po Kong, Kowloon.

 The event was attended by approximately 120 participants including representatives from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, The Korean Residents Association, The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, KOTRA Hong Kong, Korean Women's International Network, The National Unification Advisory Council, local Korean companies, Taekwondo Master Cho Young-deuk and his instructors, Creatio Studio, and the LOVE 21 CENTRE staff.

Since 2012, The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong has been conducting CSR activities for Korean companies in Hong Kong in cooperation with the Korean Consulate General in Hong Kong, aiming to enhance the image of Koreans living in Hong Kong, strengthen Korea-Hong Kong relations, expand communication channels, and improve Korea's national brand.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Kim Jun Hoe of The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong said: "It is a great honor to host this K-CSR (Korean Corporate Social Responsibility) event with the LOVE 21 Foundation and Korean companies in Hong Kong. This year is especially meaningful as it's our first time collaborating with the LOVE 21 Foundation. We truly look forward to the Taekwondo demonstration and lesson, the guest speaker's talk, and the Korean cooking class led by an experienced chef. With open hearts, let's enjoy this day and work together to create change and build a better community."

Maggie Chui, Director of Operations at LOVE 21 Centre, expressed gratitude for the Korean delegation's visit and introduced the organization. For eight years, LOVE 21 has been a charity supporting Hong Kong's Down syndrome and autism communities through sports, nutrition and comprehensive support programs. They are expanding nutritional support and counseling services for parents, currently serving over 550 families and about 2,000 individuals including members and their families.

"Most parents of children with Down syndrome cannot work because they need to care for their children 24 hours a day, leading to financial difficulties. But the parents here request love, support and care more than financial assistance. We think about who will nurture, educate, believe in and develop their abilities, rather than just taking a simple financial support approach," she said.

She then instructed volunteers on greeting SDN members with high-fives or hugs, noting they might ask many questions. "Many SDN members experience rapid decline in abilities after turning 18 when school support ends. Our center supports all age groups, with 50% of current members being 13-17 years old - an age group not supported by the government or other institutions. Sometimes, what's truly valuable is not just financial support but the caring attention from those who interact with them," she emphasized.

Director Maggie Chui introduced Consul General Yoo Hyung Cheol to SDN members as "Uncle" before inviting him to speak.

Consul General Yoo Hyung Cheol said: "I'm very pleased to meet you all and honored to participate in this K-CSR event. I sincerely thank the LOVE 21 staff for inviting the Korean community and Korean companies to this meaningful occasion. I hope today's event will strengthen bonds between the Korean and Hong Kong communities and become an opportunity for deeper friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding. I thank the Korean companies, The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and all Korean organizations that prepared this important event. I sincerely wish for the prosperity of the LOVE 21 Centre."

On the second floor venue, Taekwondo Master Cho Young-deuk and three instructors demonstrated poomsae, tumbling, board breaking, and performed the Baby Shark poomsae dance. Master Cho introduced Korean Taekwondo etiquette, taught the horse stance, punches and front kicks, and guided members through punching, kicking and board breaking exercises, encouraging them to "never give up and always try your best with confidence."

At Midas Plaza's 6th floor near the center, female executives from The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong assisted Chef Choi Joon-woo (owner of O'rm) and partner Kim Dong-hee in teaching center members and parents how to make Korean gimbap and tteokbokki. Ting Ting's mother laughed as her daughter wanted to put so much more ingredients in her gimbap that the gimbap couldn’t be rolled.

Parents chatting in small groups all agreed it was "an exciting day" and expressed interest in learning Korean makeup techniques and kimchi-making, looking forward to future connections. For the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in yellow vests, and volunteers from Korean organizations in Hong Kong, this day will remain an unforgettable memory in their lives in Hong Kong. With grateful hearts and promises to participate in future events, the successful program concluded.
